Sonobuoy
In 2007 Aurora was selected by Sikorsky to build the sonobuoy launcher for the MH-60R helicopter.
Each launcher holds 25 expendable sonobuoys which can be launched individually and are used by
the Navy for detection of submarines. The launcher consists of launch tubes made from composite
material integrated into a frame and sheet metal assembly machined from aluminum and titanium and
pneumatics to eject the sonobuoys from the launcher. Aurora builds the sonobuoy launchers at its
plants in Columbus, MS and Bridgeport, WV.
